Websites that win work

A website has one job: turn a stranger into an enquiry. The design, the bookings and the search rankings are all built around that. Over a hundred built in ten years, more than fifty for therapists and practitioners.

Why most small business websites fail

Pretty is not the same as profitable

Plenty of businesses have a website they’re quite proud of that has never brought them a single customer. It looks smart, it loads, and it sits there doing nothing.
That’s usually because it was built as a brochure rather than as a tool. There’s no obvious next step, no way to book, no way to pay, and nothing that would make Google show it to somebody searching.
I build the other kind. Every site starts with the question of what you want a visitor to do. Then everything on the page pushes gently towards that.
What’s included

Everything, handled by one person

You don’t need to buy a domain, find hosting, choose a plugin or understand a word of it. That’s my job.

Design and build

A site designed around your business, not dropped onto a template someone else is already using. Built in WordPress so you’re never locked in.

Booking and calendars

Bookings run through Calendly, connected to the diary you already keep. No double bookings, no phone tag, no admin evenings.

Taking payments

Card, PayPal, Stripe, BACS, whatever suits you. Deposits, full payment or subscriptions, taken before the appointment rather than chased after it.

Getting found on Google

Proper page titles, descriptions, headings and local search set-up, so you turn up when somebody nearby searches for what you do.

Security and backups

Daily backups, security updates and monitoring. If something breaks I usually know before you do, and I fix it.

Domain, hosting and email

Your own domain, fast UK hosting and a proper you@yourbusiness.co.uk email address. All set up, all looked after.
How it’s done

The six-stage process

You’ll know what’s happening at every stage, and you’ll never be asked a question you can’t answer.
01

Discover

We talk about your business, your customers and what you actually want the website to bring in. I look at what your competitors are doing and where the gaps are.
02

Define

We agree the pages, the features and what success looks like: enquiries, bookings, sales. You get a fixed price and a timeline before anything starts.
03

Design

I design the look and the layout, then show you. We go round as many times as it takes until you actually like it, not just tolerate it.
04

Develop

The build: pages, booking system, payments, forms, mobile layouts and speed. Tested on real phones, not just resized on a desktop.
05

Deploy

We go live, carefully. Domain, email, SSL, redirects from your old site, Google set up properly. Nothing is left half-finished.
06

Dedicated support

Updates, backups, security and changes. When you need something altering, you ring the person who built it and it gets done.
Who I build for

Different trades, same problem

Every one of these needs the same thing: to be found, to be believed, and to be booked.
Speciality

Therapists & wellness

Booking calendars, session payments, course sign-ups and member areas. Over fifty built, including two international training academies.
Speciality

Care homes & retirement living

Warm, reassuring sites families can navigate at the hardest moment of their lives. Nine years working inside a retirement village, every week.

Trades & home services

Electricians, plumbers, builders, roofers and landscapers who want bigger jobs from better customers.

Everyone else

Salons, coaches, consultants, shops, clubs. If you need customers to find you and get in touch, we’re in business.

What it costs

Three packages, one fixed price

A one-off build fee plus a monthly care plan. Both agreed in writing before I start, and neither creeps. No day rates, no “that’ll be extra” halfway through.

Starter

For a business that needs to exist properly online, be findable, and take enquiries.
£500
Then £59 a month

Advanced

For selling online at scale: courses, memberships, shops and everything behind a login.
£5,000
Then £199 a month

What the monthly covers

This is the part most cheap websites skip, and it is why most cheap websites are broken within two years.
No minimum term, no lock-in. Stop whenever you like and take the site with you.

Not sure which one?

Tell me what the business does and what you want more of. I will point you at the right package, including the cheapest one, if that is genuinely what you need.
Starting on Starter and moving up later is fine and common. Nothing gets rebuilt from scratch; the site grows as the business does.
Questions

The usual questions

Typically four to eight weeks for a small business site, depending on how quickly the content comes together. Honestly, the writing and the photographs are usually what holds things up rather than the building, and I’ll help with both.

Yes, completely. The domain is registered in your name, the site is built in WordPress, and if you ever want to move it elsewhere I’ll hand over everything without argument. I’ve no interest in holding anyone hostage.

Yes. It’s built in WordPress with a visual editor, so changing text, swapping a photograph or adding a page is straightforward, and I’ll show you how. Most clients do the small things themselves and ring me for the bigger ones.

Then we rebuild it properly and redirect the old pages so you keep whatever search rankings you’ve built up. Losing your Google position in a redesign is a genuine risk, and it’s an avoidable one.

No. Most people find writing about themselves excruciating. Tell me about the business in a phone call and I’ll draft it, then you tell me where I’ve got the tone wrong.

It has to. Most of your visitors will be on one. Every site I build is designed for a phone screen first and tested on real devices before it goes live.
