Fair questions
You don’t need it to survive. You need it to choose. Word of mouth brings you whoever happens to ask. A website lets you go after the jobs you actually want. It’s also what people do after a recommendation: they look you up before they ring, and if there’s nothing to find, some of them don’t ring.
Start taking them from tomorrow. A phone is fine. Before and after shots of the next few jobs will give us plenty. In the meantime we build around what you do have, and add the gallery as it fills up.
You don’t need to be. I set it all up and look after it. If you want to add a photo I’ll show you how in five minutes, and if you’d rather not, send it to me and I’ll do it.
Nobody honest will promise you that. What I’ll say is that most trade websites are built badly enough that doing the basics properly puts you ahead of most of your local competition: a page per town, a claimed Google Business Profile, real reviews, fast pages on a phone. That’s usually enough.
They work, but you rent the customer rather than own them, you pay per lead whether it converts or not, and you’re shown alongside three competitors on price. Your own website costs less over time and the enquiries come only to you.
